Ginza Lion 120th Anniversary Set

Hello Hello! I'm back to share a new great deal to you.

Ginza Lion is celebrating their 120th Anniversary and they have launched an Anniversary menu. I gothe chance to try the Roast Beef Set which is suitable for 2 pax to share. The set cost $50 and it consist of 3 items, Seafood Salad, Ginza Lion Signature Roast Beef and Spaghetti Napolitan.

I mean, just look at that Seafood Salad. I am not angry at the generous amount of seafood on this salad. Especially coming from someone who does not like any intake of vegetables. Haha! It consist of Mussels, Squid, Clams, Salmon and Prawns. resting on a thin bed of lettuce, tossed in a savory sauce which was a little too salty for my liking. It got a little heavy after afew bites. However after squeezing some lemon juice over it, it made it really refreshing.

The highlight of the meal was definitely the Roast Beef Set with Fries. Ginza Lion uses High Quality Angus Beef from US grilled by far-infrared grill. The results? A Tender pink looking piece yet perfectly cooked. It's a pretty big piece and it is definitely suitable to share as there is still 1 more dish after this! The thick cut fries came with a Mentaiko Dip and it was delightful as well.

The last dish of the day is this Spaghetti Napolitan. It is served on a hot plate, resting on a bed of fluffy egg. The Tomato Based Pasta is very flavourful, definitely suitable for sharing with your young kids who love a good tomato base pasta. At some point it taste like a tomato ketchup pasta, maybe because it is Japanese Style? I really liked the juicy mushrooms and the sliced Sausages. It added different textures to the whole dish. And you Must Must try the fluffy egg at the bottom with the tomato sauce, it's so good.

After the above dishes, me and my dining partner were stuffed!!

Now, I got a good Lobang for you, yes you reading this now.
You get to enjoy a complimentary Ice Cream with any Anniversary Menu Ordered.
Simply redeem this exclusive e-coupon here.

Thank you to J Passport for inviting me to try this special 120th Anniversary Menu from Ginza Lion.

Canmake Makeup Tutorial - Japanese Sweet Look

Hello my beautiful readers, today I'm doing my first ever make up tutorial with a full face of sponsored Japanese Make up product. Since Spring is near, I decided to do a sweet spring look with the products I got. Take a look at my final cute look. *Shameless*

Here we go, Here is my face with the Canmake Perfect Serum BB Cream in Shade 01. The coverage is medium and it has a slight matte finishing after it dries down.

First product I used was the Canmake Quick Airy Eyebrow in shade 01 - Lady Milk Chocolat. Left is with my brows filled in with the powder and I love the natural colour without looking too harsh or strong.

Next is the Canmake Wink Glow Eyes Eyeshadow in shade 03 - Romantic Aurora. It is a combination of Lavender and light-polarizing pearl particles to give you the dewy look but not too shiny.

Next I used the Canmake Quick Easy Eyeliner in Black. It has a 1.65mm slim felt-tip eyeliner which has the right flexibility that ensures a smooth line across your eyes. Best thing is that you can draw a thin line for a natural eye enlarging effect or you can layer it up for a bolder look.

On my lips, I'm using the Canmake Candy Wrap Rich Color in shade 02 - Apple Shake. It is a all in one lip gloss that combines beautiful colour with glossy, well-hydrated lips. It has tinting properties which ensures long-lasting colour even after eating and drinking.

We are almost done. Here I am wearing the Canmake Lip and Cheek Gel in shade 03. I used it on my lips as well before applying the lip gloss so that the colour shows up  brighter and fuller.

Final step would be the Canmake Marshmallow Finish Powder in shade MP (Matte Pink Ochre) to set your make up and to create a softer overall look. It contains shine preventing Powder which helps to absorb sebum, which prevents shininess and stickiness.

One thing that I absolutely love about Japan products are the little efforts that that they put in to for the packaging of the product. These whole series look so sweet and pretty that you cannot resist NOT buying. Hahaha.

I had so much fun doing up this tutorial in collaboration with Canmake Tokyo and I hope you like it too. Do leave me some comments on what other looks you would like to see me do and I'll try my best to fufill your wishes. Hahaha.

Thank you for reading, stay beautiful.

First Homemade Tamago experience at Barashi-Tei

New Japanese Store is opened in Dhoby Ghaut area!
Founder and Chef, Mr Wang Zhen Feng is proud to present Barashi-Tei, his new Japanese restaurant which serves only dishes made with freshest ingredients from Japan. With an able team in the kitchen and a head chef with more than 30 years of experience in Japanese cuisine, this is one Japanese restaurant to take note of.

We started off the Japanese Food Night with an Avocado Salmon Salad($13.80). Creamy goodness from the Avocado gave this salad a pretty interesting texture on my palette.

Sashimi Salad ($13.80)

My favourite Maki of the night is the Spicy Salmon Maki($12.80). Super Shiok with crispy Tempura Prawn and Torched Salmon!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE POST - Homemade Yaki Tamago ($5)
Don't judge it by it's appearance, this the the best $5 you'll ever spend on!
The homemade Tamago Yaki retains the natural eggy yellow, not those overly Yellow type you see outside. and the burnt bits rolled in together makes each piece unique on it's own!

This beautiful little Garden is the Rice Paper Ebi Maki($10.80) from Barashi-Tei. A really good option for the carbs consious friends.

Between the Chirashi Don ($23.00) and the Bara Chirashi Don($13.80), I prefer the latter cos easier to dig in! Haha. All chopped up for my convenience to just dig in after a photo taking session. Hehe. However, I must say that the Chirashi Don have really thick slices of fishes. Worth it la for $23!

I super super love this Kurama Ebi ($7.80). The generous sprinkle of the golden brown fried garlic added so much flavour and texture to this. I can finish it on my own omg! The Wasabi Ebi ($7.80) did not impress, maybe due to the lack of the wasabi kick.

Very shocking dish to be served at a Japanese Restaurant. The Sirloin Steak with Foie Gras ($19.80) was not impressive.

Oyster loving friends, rejoice! Barashi Tei is bringing the grilled oyster to a whole new level, by wrapping them with BACON! Yes ! Charred and oily goodness, the Oyster Bacon Kushi ($3.80) is a delightful snack to go with your Japanese Beer!

Gindara Nabe ($24)

End the day with Japanese Flavoured Ice Cream is at $5 each. Flavours range from Matcha to Black Sesame and Yuzu and more! Check out their dessert menu la!

Overall I had a great time at Barashi Tei.
Please visit them to try out the TAMAGO and the Kurama Prawn and the Spicy Salmon Maki!

IPPIN CAFE BAR - BETTER THAN MOM'S COOKING

*FOOD TASTING*

I am always fascinated with Japanese cuisine, the time and work they put in to creating each and every dish to ensure they come out the best. When I was invited to IPPIN CAFE & BAR, I was told that the dishes here are #BETTERTHANMOM 's Cooking. I had to come try it out myself!

IPPIN cafe & bar, they sell zakka items and also many imported Japanese snacks and wines for customer to purchase. They have a range of sake for customer to choose from. And if you can't finish your Sake in one dinner, you can always leave it here until your next visit. Very personalized service, very Japanese way of doing things, I love.

We started off with some appetizers, and we all know Japanese are particular about their diet, so we first had Crunchy & Fresh Veggie Sticks ($5). I love the green onion miso dip, it was a little savory but very appetizing to kick start the palete for the delicious food ahead.

Next is their Rice Ball with Fish Confit ($5) which contains a combination of 2 parts rice and 1 part barley - the japanese way of healthy home eating. The grains soaked up the fish confit - a balance of pufferfish, tuna, garlic. I could not stop popping them in my mouth.

Next up is my favourite dish of the day, and also a new item on the menu - Cold Yuzu Noodle -$15. Japanese love to have their sour and cold noodles in Summer Time! The noodles are tossed with a yuzu scented sour soya sauce to give a really refreshing kick!

The Beef Steak Set - $25 NETT allows you to try it with Wasabi Salt &/OR Garlic Soy. I say go for both together so that you can try them both out! It comes with Rice & Miso soup too!

Chicken & Egg on rice, also known as Oyakodon, the Oyakodon set - $15 NETT comes with delicious fluffy eggs and tender chicken cubes. They boil the chicken and onion with the Dashi(Stock) to ensure the flavour are infused strongly.

This last dish is a very homely dish that I would love to learn - Nikujaga - $5 is Ippin's version of Mom's taste of pork, vegetable & potato stew. every bite of this dish makes you want to head home and thank your mother for the countless delicious food she made. Very Homely, I like!

You can purchase some of the ingredients to bring home to cook your own homely dishes from IPPIN! Like the Yuzu Soya Sauce can be bought, or the garlic soya sauce. There is a wide range of japanese products imported at IPPIN, be sure to check them out if you are nearby!

All prices are NETT prices and they have FREE WIFI!

Restaurant Hoshigaoka - Safra Toa Payoh

*Food Tasting Session*

Home is where the Heart is, And so is Food. My Heart always has a spot for all things Japanese. Even though I'm craving for Korean Food nowadays, It doesn't mean that I do not miss my Sashimi and Tonkatsu. Hehe *Glutton Alert*

With 40 years of rich history in serving authentic Japanese cusine, Restaurant Hoshigaoka has recently revamped their menu, for both ala carte and also the kids menu, available at all 4 outlets!

I simply adore potato salads at Japanese Food Joints. Some have really creamy smooth potatoes, some are chunky, some even have crunchy apples and carrots in them! What I liked about Restaurant Hoshigaoka's version is that they have my favouritest thing from japan on it, MENTAI! Chunky Potato Salad with Mentai and Salad on the side, I could have it for dinner and it would leave me satisfied!
Mentai Potato Salad
The Kids Menu got a Revamp too! They can choose from Aeroplane, train or Bento Sets! Oooooh So Cute! The kids meal also comes with all time kids favourite - Yakult and snacks like Hello Panda and Jelly! I so Envy!
Aeroplane Kids Meal
Highlight of the night would be this Goma Beef Houba Yaki. Slices of 30 days Aged New Zealand Rib Eye beef is a melt in your mouth sensation with the aroma of the goma sauce is sheer delight to the palate!
Goma Beef Houba Yaki
Tender Codfish(My Favourite!) with Black pepper sauce, Simple and satisfying. It comes with sides like Salmon Sashimi, Fried chicken kaarage, goma tofu, miso soup and fruits! Just by looking at it makes me feel like digging in already, so many things to eat on 1 plate!!
Black Pepper Gindara Teishoku
With a history of more than 30 years, The Hoshigaoka Zen comes with an appetiser, salmon sashimi salad, tempura, gindara teriyaki, beef misoyaki, rice, miso soup, chawanmushi and matcha ice cream. The presentation itself is so Instagram worthy!! And everything you see is fresh and I enjoy the various textures of the different items, only regret is that the beef was tough to bite.

Complimentary Green Tea Ice Cream with Azuki Beans for Hoshigaoka Zen Set

Salmon Sushi Roll ~ A Classic which I could just pop in to my mouth effortlessly (Oh my god my mouth is huge!!!) Fresh Salmon with Crunchy and colourful vegetables makes it really pleasing!

And a dessert to end it all off, Tempura Ice Cream is really common in Japanese food places and Restaurant Hoshigaoka's version is really awesome!!! Vanilla ice cream in cream puff, covered in tempura batter and fried to perfect crisp, then drizzled with strawberry sauce, Give me moreeeeeee!
