Michhysaurous Travelogue - PENANG 07 - 10 JAN 2016 PART 1

Penang Day 1 - 7th January 2016
This Penang trip was jointly planned by my bae Celes and Me. My sister came along for the trip too!

Hotel of choice: Museum Hotel
Address: No. 72 Jalan A.S.Mansor, 10050 George Town, Malaysia

At first we choose Campbell house one, but they do not allow more than 2 pax per room, so we had to re select our residence. lol! But the Museum Hotel is also very pretty! Nothing like a Hotel kind of look which we were looking for. Good Good!
Hotel Lobby
Rest & Relax area cum Breakfast area

Our Room - The QI LIN (麒麟) Quadruple Duplex Room is a 2 storey room with the living area on level 1 and then a staircase leading up to the 2nd floor where 1 King Bed and 2 single bed is available together with the toilet. There are 2 toilet cubicles, 2 Sinks and 2 Shower Cubicles.

After freshening up, we headed out to rent a bicycle to go Wall Art Hunting. We walked along Lebuh Chulia and we went to the first Bike Rental Store we saw - Weng Motor. The rental rates is a flat rate of RM10 for the whole day until 10pm.

On our way to find our first street art, we found MAMA MIYA Coconut Ice Cream - RM7. It was a great stop to cool us down in the crazy sunny weather in Penang! Penang skies are really blue, which also means that there are hardly any clouds, yes, good for tanning! Haha!

After that, we wanted to cycle on to find the street art but we bumped into one of the Cafes that we intended to visit - China House (153 Lebuh Pantai, Georgetown 10300) instead! Lol. It was less than a minute walk away from MAMA MIYA Coconut ice cream! Haha, so we jumped at the chance to head inside for some of their famous sweets!

They have a crazy wide selection of cakes available daily and their crowd favorite is their Tiramisu, although I felt that the Chocolate Buttermilk Cake with Earl Grey Cream - RM12.70 was much better. It was a rich chocolate cake but not too sweet at all. It was moist and the earl grey cream that accompanied it was great!

After what seemed like hours in China House, partly due to the slow service, it was almost 2pm! We Panicked as we had to rush to Tiger char Koay Teow (179 Carnavon Street, Georgetown, 10300) before they closed at 2pm! This plate of guilt was so worth my calories! Try the Duck Eggs Version please!

After filling our tummies, it was time for us to go hunt for the Famous Penang Street Art! We first spotted the Little boy reaching for the cup.

Then it was the uncle at his own cafe! Do note that this street art is located in the Cafe itself! The cafe is called My Own Cafe.

Then walking on another street, you can find this magician and his magic trick! But I guess not everyone is acceptable to magic acts. Haha. And keep your eyes peeled for the Lion Dance Mural just a few doors away! Beside the shop where they sell Ice Balls - RM3 each. Another thirst quencher in the blazing hot sun.

If you turn around the corner beside the ice ball shop, you will see these 3 cute ladies on a beautiful purple wall. So cute right!!

One tip in Penang is to carry around lots of water as the weather is really Hot, not humid like singapore but really HOT! Because there are very little clouds in the skies, so the sun rays just comes down on you and shine on you~~~ Keep Hydrated and Spam sunblock if you can! I totally forgot about it, Haha! I was having too much fun finding and posing for the street arts!

After all that hunting and posing, it was evening time! We went to return our bikes and we spotted this AB Cafe (32 Argyll Road, Georgetown) on the way back to our hotel and little did we know that it serves really good Nasi Goreng! We literally went in because our feets were sore from all the walking and cycling and the heat so we just popped into the cafe to escape the heat. A Great find unknowingly, Haha!

My Black Pepper Chicken Chop

Sist's Carbonara, a rather creamy version but not gelat ley!

And the holy grail - Nasi Goreng with Chicken. The fried rice had enough wok hei and was spicy yet aromatic but what won us over was that it had a very homely taste. You know like how your mum cooks it? That kind of taste. We fell in love and I seriously would order it for myself if it wasn't so spicy.. T__T

After that, we headed back to the hotel, wanted to wash up and rest a little before heading out again. By the time we were done with the above, it was 9PM. HAHA! Too Nua already, so we just continue to nua in the hotel and prepare to sleep instead! Lol!

Inserts a selfie after day 1 because I have beautiful lashes all thanks to Vibby Skin Beauty! Search Vibbly Skin Beauty Michhysaurous on google to find all the related posts!

I hope I have the energy to continue blogging the rest of the days so that it is complete.

Does Passion still pay ?

"Success comes from knowing what you don't know, more than coming from what you do know" - Ray Dalio

People expect you to do what you love, for FREE
Some people choose their career depending on 100% Passion, while others on 100% Pay.
But will doing things you love passionately ultimately bring you the pay you need for survival?

As you have notice, I've been blogging lesser and lesser. Not that I have lost my passion, it's just that I'm so caught up with work and personal stuff that I'm hardly updating on social media too!
I'm sorry to be missing in action recently and I really really can't wait for more time to create better blog posts, to be able to share recipes or beauty products with you again! I want to be able to travel and share my experiences with you guys too. (although I know my *cough* super overdued Japan Trip *Cough* post is like halfway there. And my Hong Kong trip last year also not up yet. Lol)

I would seriously recommend everyone to save up to travel the world. Anywhere is good. Travelling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. Spend time to collect memories instead of things and life will be much better.

So, does our efforts on our blog and sharing passionately on our social media get recognized? Sometimes I don't think so. But what about on the marketers end? Are they able to engage the right person passionate enough for their desired profile? No. Sometimes all we need is a platform where influencers can get paid for their time and effort spent on their works. what they are passionate about and marketers can better identify the right influencer for the job.

Just recently, I found out a website called CatJira. Yea, what is CatJira ?
Well, CatJira was started to help influencers and marketers solve their challenges.

For influencers, producing good online content for their fans is a labour of love, sweat and tears. A lot of time and effort is spent to ensure their fans enjoy their content. And even though the content can garner a larger audience, it is difficult to be financially rewarded for it. Influencers have to regularly produce quality content in hopes to monetize their content consistently.

For marketers, finding the right influencers and working with them can be difficult. Marketers rely heavily on personal contacts or search aimlessly on the web for influencers to suit their campaign needs. They have to spend hours screening the online profiles of influencers before deciding who to hire. And when they do decide to work the the influencer, they have to figure out how to best collaborate with influencers, what are the right tools for the collaboration. Most importantly after the collaboration, marketers may get little response from influencers for their reporting, making them unable to measure the effectiveness of their work.

Realizing this, #CatJira was built to solve the challanges above. They aim to make influencers and marketers more successful.
So Join me, Write with your passion. Share your experiences.
