The Club 1st Anniversary Celebration!

The Club marks its first anniversary with the launch of a new dining concept -The  Disgruntled  Brasserie. Managed  by  popular  bar  and  dining  chain Harry’s International,  The  Club  is unique  in  its  design, amenities  and  personalized  services. Housed  within  a charming  19th century  colonial  building,  it offers a selection of tastefully-designed boutique rooms that offers a luxe-for-less stay experience, as  well  as  distinctive  restaurants  and  bars  that  have garnered a  cult  following  amongst  discerning locals and travellers alike since its inception.

The newly launched Disgruntled Brasserie is a casual take on its predecessor, where the food philosophy stays true to the concept of large plates and small plates. This modern European brasserie has a more inviting and relaxed environment where guests can indulge in a rich epicurean journey.

The revamped décor at The Disgruntled Brasserie pays tribute to The Club’s iconic heritage location with a photo wall featuring pictures of local hawkers and street traders. Perfect for hearty breakfast, lunch meetings and dinner celebrations, The Disgruntled Brasserie has an all-day dining menu that includes classic breakfast selections and a High-tea set for two that offers well-curated selections such as Deviled Eggs, Mini Shepherd’s Pie and Mini Smoked Chicken & Granny Smith Croissants.

At the anniversary party, we got to try out some of the small plates such as the Deviled eggs, Beet-cured Salmon, Beef Tartare and more.

Spearheaded by Head Chef Jacq Lim, other exciting dishes to look forward to includes Lobster Thermidor, Roasted Pumpkin Agnolotti and a foreseeable crowd favourite, the Foie Gras Beef Burger. We tried the Baked Miso Cod and the Foie Gras Beef Burger and I found the former a little too salty, tho understanding that miso was used, I still felt that it was a little too saltish to finish.
Look at the Foie Gras hiding in the patty!
Head Chef Jacq Lim explains that in the new menu line-up, they are serving food that they take comfort in. Which meant no-frill hearty dishes with big, bold, punchy flavours. Coupled with the new breakfast and High-tea options, customers can look foward to satisfying their cravings at wallet-friendly prices.
Sticky date pudding & Lemon Tart

After the hearty dinner, we headed to B28 for a look into the prestige bar which is kind of like our idea of secret hideout. Hidden in the basement of The Club, there are live Jazz performances on Friday & Saturday nights for your enjoyment.

We had the Old Fashioned ($16) - made up of Bourbon, Bitters and Orange Peel for that citrus kick. This is way too strong for me. Haha. I'm feel that I'm more of a cocktail person.

Then we headed up to the only Peruvian Bar in Singapore - Tiger's Milk. It has a really beautiful view of the CBD with very unique decorations. They serve delicious grills and many Peruvian dishes along with their wide range of concoctions.

We got to try the Pisco Sour - A cocktail made with Pisco, Lemon & Egg whites. YES egg whites! It is then shaken to a frothy finish with a dash of angostura bitters. The Pisco has a whopping 40% Alcohol volume, I call it "The Plain Water of Death" . Haha!

In  line  with  its  first  anniversary,  The  Club is  offering a  special  package for  anyone  looking  for  a getaway. At  $288,  The  Club  offers  guests  the  opportunity  to  celebrate  their  own  anniversary  and create long lasting memories together. This package includes one night stay at The Club King Room (Complimentary  upgrade to The Club Suite), a congratulatory bottle of Prosecco, and  $50 voucher to  dine  at  The  Disgruntled  Brasserie  (with  a  minimum  spend  of  $100).  Guests  will  also  enjoy  a welcome  drink,  complimentary  breakfast  and  romantic  touches  to  the  room.

The  Anniversary Package is available till September 2017.

[F.T] Capella - The Knolls Easter Brunch Special

Hello.

Is this the most beautiful view you have ever seen for awhile now? I can stare at it the whole day, I have it on my laptop and my iPhone as default Wallpaper. That's how much I love it. You cannot imagine how excited I was when this beautiful view was present before my very eyeballs. O-O Okay sorry I side tracked..

Enjoy the Alfresco dining area, shaded and well ventilated with the natural breeze and enjoy the view of the South China Sea with special appearance by peacocks and their family walking along side. Or opt for the indoor dining option where you get pretty well lit table while surrounded by the buffet spread. There is even a Private dining room that can hold up to 10 pax, perfect for a simple family gathering? :)

The spread at The Knolls, Capella is Stunning. 5 Different types of Oysters such as Gillardeau, Pousse en Clair and Belon opened freshly on the spot, scallops, Sashimi, Sushi, Foie Gras Popsicle and a live station serving freshly made Blini. Yes, you did not read it wrong, Foie Gras Popsicle is Foie Gras coated with Dark chocolate and sprinkled with some nuts. Definitely a MUST TRY as it's such a unique combination, yet so wonderful.

They have a Cheese Trolley, Nacho Cheese Dip with cheese, Lobster Salad, Tuna Salad and Breads and Fruits and LOADS of Desserts that you would want to have a little of everything, Which you should!

Yes, keep scrolling, we are not done yet.. :) Capella is famous for their mediterranean spread of barbeque meat and Fresh seafood but my visit this time round was for their Easter Specials proudly presented to you by Excutive Chef David Nicolas Senia!

Price Tag:
Sunday Brunch with Free Flow of champagne & Wine will be priced at $228++ (No kids will be able to enjoy this, sorry) If you do not need free flow champagne & wine, then it will be $188++ per Adult and $118++ per Child between 7-12 Years Old and $78++ per Child between 4-6 Years Old, you will get to enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks and mineral water.

Let's take a look at the Easter Brunch Specials!

At $80/kg, This fish does not disappoint! Firm texture but soft on the palette, one of my favourites.

Salt baked Chicken comes in flavours such as Olive and Tomato flavour. Each piece of chicken is tender and juicy, it is not like any other chicken I have tasted. It was fun hacking the domes of salt, I felt like Thor.

The Knolls specially selected Milk-Fed Baby Lambs from France for their special Easter Menu. The various parts are prepared in different cooking methods, resting on a bed of couscous. You get to enjoy the ribs that fall off the bones tender or the other parts of the lamb which are all presented before your very eyes.

Easter Special Wine Selection, My personal favourite is the Moscato D'Asti.

What's wine without cheese and what is cheese without wine, you get it? The Knolls serves up quite a extensive range of cheese. I am a total cheese idiot, when presented with all these cheese, I had to ask my fellow diners on where do I begin or how do I pair them with. I enjoyed every piece of cheese that went into my mouth, Creamy or Nutty, I like them all!

Yes, I did mention that The Knolls have a rather extensive dessert menu and I am not joking. Every piece of their dessert is so beautifully crafted you would feel obliged to snap a photo or 2 before diving in. I wished I had more stomach space to try every single one of them, but non of those I tried were disappointing.

These Are Not ALL, be there yourself to enjoy it!

It is definitely a wonderful experience at The Knolls, Capella. Thank you Sarah for the invite.
Although the price tag is pretty high, But it is definitely worth the indulgence once in a while, or once a year?
But to enjoy the special Lamb, Fish and Wine/Champagne selection, remember to book yourself a seat this Easter!

[F.T] Mooncake Times with Xin Cuisine - Holiday Inn Atrium

It's the time of the year to stuff ourselves silly with the many different types of Mooncakes.
I was invited by Openrice to Xin Cuisine, Holiday Inn Atrium Hotel for a Mooncake Tasting.

Plates and Plates of Finger food were laid out for us to enjoy.

Holiday Inn Atrium has specially brought in Red and White Wine to pair up with their Mooncake Selection.
I find it quite a trend now to pair wine with desserts or even asian cuisine. :)

We had the Riondo Prosecco Spago (Left) and Riondo Castelforte Prosecco Extra Dry (Right)
I prefer the Riondo Castelforte Prosecco, White with gold reflections. Fine and persistent perlage. Fruity, slightly aromatic. Fresh, with harmonic and aromatic aftertaste. It is well paired with Xin Cuisine's Mini Custard Mooncake. More about that later.

Cute Satchel Looking Boxes is available when you purchase mooncakes with Xin Cuisine.

Well, Just me with my Mooncake and Prosecco .

Traditional Baked Skin Mooncakes are still my favourite after all these years, although I must Shoutout that Xin Cuisine's Snowskin Mooncakes are not to be missed! With Flavours like Soursop with chocolate crunch, mango passionfruit, Black sesame with peanut or Green Tea with Whisky. These are some of the few creative creations available.

And we were treated to a special made to order Mooncake, The Classic YAM MOONCAKE WITH YOLK! Super Love it! Warm and Full of Yam Flavour, with the flaky skin, this is one of the better Yam mooncakes I have had for some time!:)

So, What's your favourite Mooncake? Are you tempted to try out Xin Cuisine's Mooncakes as well? :)
Just head over to Xin Cuisine and Quote "openrice" to enjoy 30% Discount on all mooncake purchases.
Happy Shopping and EAT ALL THE MOONCAKES! ^o^

[F.T] Azur - A Taste of the Seven seas

The only place I wouldn't mind visiting everyday would be our Singapore's Changi Airport. I love to dine in the Airport with the Wide Range of Choices but little has been heard about the Hotel's Dining Options. Even I myself have not stepped into the Hotel for any dining options. So the question come, does Crowne Plaza's Dining Option not meet the expectations of the crowd?

I was invited by Karen(@Superfinefeline) for a tasting at Azur for their Premium Buffet Dinner Spread. The Restaurant will be launching its first edition of the Seven series, Feast of the Seven Seas, over a limited period of two weekends from 19 - 21 July as well as 26 - 28 July.

As it was my first visit to Azur, I took on a tour around the place and I am impressed with the live cooking Demo stations where the chefs do their thing right infront of your eyes. Talk about a feast for the eyes.

And with a Wide Selection, I was so tempted to try everything on the spread that day, but I had to control myself as I had to taste the special series later on!

Did I mention they have a cheese Section? ^^

AND A WHOLE LOT OF SEAFOOD FOR YOU TO GRAB!

Unlimited amount of Lobsters, Scallops, Muscles & Oysters will be available for the normal buffet times BUT! Fines de Claires Oysters, instead of Australian Oysters, will be available during the promotion period!

And also, I don't go home from a dessert without attacking the Dessert Table, :P Azur's Dessert Table Setting does impress me with the range of selection available.

The Gourmand Experience First Edition
Feast of the Seven Seas

Complimentary Mocktail: Which has Orange Juice and Honeydew. Refreshing.

Selection of Premium Chilled Seafood
Pic Credit to sgfoodonfoot.com

Diners get to enjoy a wide range of seafood selection from freshly poached prawns to Premium Oysters and Boston Lobsters to Fresh Muscles and Scallops.

Lobster Bisque with Tarragon Chantilly Cream with Herb Gougères
Packed with Flavour, I could ask for another serving. Smooth enough for me.

Black Pepper Slipper Lobster

The Lobster was well coated with the black pepper sauce and the sauce was not too spicy for a lousy spicy eater like me. Fragrant and it made me crave for more!

Hawker Style Bamboo Clams
I felt that this dish lacks the freshness I desire, the meat was a little tough for me, Overall just an average to me.

Baked Whole Salmon with Seafood and Aromatic Spices served with
 Coconut & Lemongrass Espuma.
Highlight of the night. Baked Whole Salmon with loads of Big Fat Scallops and Prawns Stuffed on it to ensure Diners a Wonderful Mouthfeel.

Every Bite in to the Salmon brings me up to heaven (well, sorta). Soft and Juicy at the same time, paired with the Coconut & Lemongrass Espuma, it's a totally different taste. with the Fresh Scallops and Prawns, this was the Winner of the night, In my case for that matter. :)

Baked Conchigliette Pasta with Shrimp & Mozzarella Cheese
Disappointing Dish I would say, Lacking of sauce for this seafood focused Baked Pasta Dish. I love my pastas, But It did not win me over. Talk to the chef and Im sure he has taken our feedback in.

Parisian Mussel with Fresh Herb Crumbles
Not a Fan of Muscles but this was good! Simply presented but full of flavour!

I told you I could not resist the Desserts!

1st plate of dessert selection

2nd Plate, FULLER! MEGA LOVE ALL OF THEIR DESSERT!

Please do not miss this offer of such wonderful selection of Seafood and Desserts!
