[F.T] Miam Miam Westgate Mall - French Japanese Cafe with Perfectly Engineered Meals.

French inspired Japanese Cafe, Miam Miam brings the best out of French Artisanal Cuisine & Techniques and traditional Japanese preparation & cooking arts. We know how to delight you, every step of the way.

I heard that Miam Miam offers 'Perfectly Engineered meals', which basically means that they procedure to prepare all their dishes are the same. For example, each portion of raw pasta weighs at 110g and are then thrown into boiling water and cooked for exactly 7.5 minutes to achieve that exclusive Al Dente texture. Talk about precision, the chefs sure have all their minutes & seconds counted for.

Miam Miam's Hot Coffee is brewed the traditional way; Hand-Dripped from perfectly selected 100% Arabica Beans. The Aroma was fantastic, I had it on its on first, then went on to add some sugar in it. It taste best when hot, be it sweeten or not. The London Fog uses Earl Grey Tea with Steamed milk and homemade vanilla syrup. The subtle sweetness lingers after each sip, Its definitely a ladies favorite.

Miam Miam Haze a.k.a London Fog - $6.8

The marriage of Japanese & French makes up a beautiful menu at miam miam. With a few pasta selection, Curry Rice and even Squid Ink Rice, it would take you some time to decide. The Riz Au Curry had a pleasant mixture with the Japanese Pearl rice and when Stirred, every single rice is coated with the curry, though only served with 2 Pieces of sausages, this dish is sure to suit any kid's tastebuds.

Miam Miam Capellini - $15.80

Riz Au Curry - $14.80

Homard Bisque, A savoury & rich soup base, slow cooked to perfection, topped with parmesan cheese and a Giant tiger prawn. The sauce felt really soupy, just like how it was described in the menu, the giant tiger prawn wasn't the freshest and overall the dish did not stand out to me at all. On the other hand, The Riz Noir Black Rice, which is Squid Ink Rice with a Fluffly Omelette, Oh the omelette. The black rice had obvious pieces salt granules which I am not sure if it was intentional or what, but when paired with the fluffy omelette, It balances the saltiness.

I expected crispy outer layers for the french toast with fluffy and sweet interior but what I felt I got was soggy French Toast with Ice Cream that melts too fast, I'm sorry but... no. The red bean cream was good together with the matcha jelly, Yums! The pancake felt a little too thick for my liking.

The chocolate souffle was lacked thickness and was overly sweet. Nothing close to being rich though I was really anticipating so much due to the 'Valrhona chocolate'. Miam Miam's pancakes are thick like what you might get at Mr Bean's but they are much drier and floury? But I prefer this than the Match with Red Bean Cream Pancake, maybe it's because the caramelized banana is so addictive.

I cannot stop comparing how similar the menu at Miam Miam is that of Hoshino Coffee, Or vice versa. I personally have not tried the latter but what I had at Miam Miam is definitely not all yum yum and maybe they need to spend more time to engineer their recipes. There is of course hits like the Squid Risotto and Miam Miam Haze a.k.a London Fog.

Saveur - Affordable French Food at Purvis Street

So what is this "Most affordable french cuisine" place Saveur hype about? 

Do they really serve you french cuisine at pocket friendly prices?

Yes they do, But portions are small, which might make up end up ordering more for, since it's price tag is reasonable too. Not too bad a marketing strategy.

Shirley Temple - $3.00

Appetizers are pretty decent, price tag will really make you take a second look at their non-extensive menu again to confirm it. I almost had the urge to order one of each to try them out but of course I kept myself sane.

Pan Fried Foie Gras still had a little smell to it but for the price tag, it's good enough and the size is pretty worth it! The creamy lentils was a good pair with it. The ever popular Saveur Pasta is especially good to me, the amount of sakura shrimp made me really excited and the pasta is tossed with konbu seaweed and barely noticable mince meat which is almost pureed into a paste I guess?

Saveur's Pasta - $3.90

The dinner partner had the Crispy pork belly with poached egg, pork belly is tender and the skin is really crispy, mixed the egg with the creamy lentils and eat it together with the pork belly for another level of satisfaction, a pity that that the pork belly came in such a small portion. I had the Duck Confit, crispy duck that fell off the bones resting on a bed of mash that was really smooth.

Dessert was Salted Caramel Lava Cake, I could not resist NOT ordering it! But it was nothing fantastic that I would recommend to others. It got really Gelat and the Lava did not flow from Inside the cake, Saveur's Lava came from the top of the cake, somewhat like a volcano style.

Overall experience at Saveur is pleasant and food is decent but I am not dying to go back soon, the noise level inside is pretty high which I do not enjoy while dining at all.

[F.T] Delifrance - Launch of Michelin Starred Sandwich Le-Paris

Bonjour my dear readers. Today The Craze over Michelin Starred Items are all around Singapore ever since Tim Ho Wan made it to our Shores. And Chef Gordon Ramsey is going to take on our SG Hawkers Soon.

Now Delifrance has joined in the Trend, by Inviting the French Chef Jacques Laurent to create a Sandwich specially for Delifrance to serve up as a Asian & Western Fushion Sandwich. IT IS WOW!

Drink Provided that day was from Monin Syrups. They created special mocktails for that day and also to be sold in Delifrance alongside with the Le-Paris Sandwich. This you see here is the Spicy Mango, Refreshing Mango Taste, with a hint of spicy after taste. It is a unique drink that I would go for seconds. It's retailing at $5.00 per cup for ala Carte ! :)

And Here is the Sandwich! Don't Be little its simple appearance. This sandwich packs a punch and it has countries that I have not been yet. Paris because of the Baguette, Baby Spinach from the Western Side, Thailand because of the Thai Chili Sauce, Japan because of the Wakame, Oyster sauce because of Chinese, Pineapples can be found in Asia! Retailing at $10.80, and $12.80 with the Sparkling Juice! :)

All in all, My 2013 has been a Wonderful one and I could not have enjoyed it if without everyone who appeared in my life, With many First Times and Too many exciting memories that I will never forget. And also, I have witness the vulnerability of life with the few natural disasters that Happened and My most sincere condolence to their family.

I wish Everyone to have a great 2014 ahead and Start Buying all the Chinese New Year Clothes and Prepare to Gamble During the Chinese New Year to win some Extra Pocket Money! And I also wish myself to advance further in my career and also in my blogging world and I will say this again, I want to slim down! Hahahahaha! Let's see if I can do this in 2014 alright? :)
