Aone Porridge - New Menu New Experiences!

*Food Tasting*

I believe that we have all seen Aone porridge around in Food Courts in the past few years and maybe you have seen them in shopping malls in the recent year too! Aone porridge have always been famous with their porridge in a claypot because it has good airflow and good insulation which locks in moisture and nutrients. I am glad to be invited to their outlet at Kallang Wave Mall for an introduction to their new menu!

Clean and spacious layout, creating a casual atmosphere where everyone would feel comfortable eating and sharing family-style comfort food. Because I believe that we tend to find comfort in food that are most familiar to us.

Starting off with some tea, their Signature Fruit Tea and my personal favourite, Jasmine Tea. I believe the fruit tea has some Hawthon inside which makes it a little bitter sweet but very pleasing to the palate. The Jasmine Tea is just plain Jasmine Tea but very good for cleansing the palete and tummy from all the delicious food that you are about to have.

Premium Dried Scallop Porridge(pictured) & Dried Scallop Porridge with minced meat & assorted egg were two of the delicious porridge I got to try that day. My bias would be the Latter, It was more to my suited to my taste due to the use of meat and assorted eggs like Century egg and Salted egg.

Steamed scallop with minced garlic & vermicelli - Very aromatic when it was served, we rushed though the photos because we could not wait to dig in! Fresh Scallop topped with fragrant garlic, resting on a sea of vermicelli was a tad salty but if paired with Aone's porridge, it would be just right.

Deep Fried Pumpkin and Lotus Root with creamy salted egg sauce - It came to us golden brown and my table had high expectations for it but it was oily in the mouth and the salted egg punch was not strong enough. I gave up after 1 piece.

Premium Claypot - Consisting of Abalone Mushroom, Scallop, Sliced Fish, Prawn and Fish Maw. Light taste, suitable for people who have light taste buds, fresh ingredients and very homely feel.

Assorted Vegetables in Sambal Sauce - A very localized dish where sambal is used to stir fry vegetables till fragrant, albeit slightly oily, it was really fragrant and delicious, pair with porridge for optimum taste.

Honey Chicken - Suitable for all young and old, Crispy fried chicken tossed in sweet sauce sprinkled with sesame seed, presented with cute little cucumbers around is definitely a MUST ORDER in my opinion. I ate like alot of this during the session, I love it!

Thank You Aone for the invite for this wonderful food tasting session, I have been a fan of Aone's porridge and I will continue to patronize even if they never invite me to the food tasting! hahaha!

I am glad to be invited to my first Festive Tasting for Christmas! I enjoy tasting the Festive Menu from Clover Garden located in Hotel Clover 33 Jalan Sultan. Clover Garden celebrated it's unique and immaculate concept with a grand opening on August 2014 at Hotel Clover, making it really new and I can't wait to try out the dishes created by Chef Shawn Yan which has inspirations from European Elegances with Asian touches.

Festive Salad - Consisting of Yellow Fin Tuna sashimi cubes, Compressed Watermelon and Beetroot, presented in a Mosiac Cube formation and completed with a generous scoop of black caviar. Refreshing to the taste bud, eat it in the order of presentation - Watermelon, Beetroot and then Tuna, pairing the Caviar with any one of them would bring another level of experience.

Soup - Warm up the festive mood with a bowl of Cream of Cauliflower, served with prosciutto crisp, poached egg and croutons. The egg, being poached at 65Degrees is deliberately made to be more done and less flowy, but nevertheless, when mixed in with the soup, it added a thicker and more flavoursome taste.

3 options for the Entrée - Triple Textured Tasmanian Salmon, 48-Hour Sous Vide Beef Short Ribs OR Beer Brined Turkey Breast

The triple texture Tasmanian salmon served with the asian touches of Cold Soba, Nashi Pear Purée and grilled king oyster mushrooms. Diners should be excited to taste the crispy salmon skin and then moving on to the tender flesh of the cooked salmon and the slightly raw middle. The whole dish is light and delightful.

Beef Short Ribs with lardons and pearl onions, baby carrot, black truffle mash topped off with red wine reduction. Tender pieces of beef when paired with the red wine sauce, it is such a delight in every mouthful. The truffle mash that came with it was a clear bonus to up the whole game, Strong flavours of truffle infused mash potato made everything complete.

And a what's a Festive Dinner without a sweet ending to it - Traditional Christmas pudding freshly baked with a selection of dried fruits, cranberries and nuts, paired with homemade vanilla ice cream and whisky sauce. Mmmm hmmm... Homemade vanilla ice cream, you could see the pods in there!

The Clover Garden 4-Course Festive Menu is going at $42 Per Pax starting from 1st December 2014 to 10th January 2015. I personally feel that for the price, it is definitely worth it and Hotel Clover is away from the bustling town area which makes it a ideal place for a lovely catch-up with loved ones. So call them now to book your slots!!

If you are not into the festive menu, Clover Garden has a simple yet impressive menu on it own! I love how chef Shawn manage to highlight European Classic with Asian Twist into the menu. He hopes that every diner will enjoy the traditional flavours with new interpretations and presentation. Every dish is a brand new adventure in my opinion!

Tuna Tempura ($12) - Tuna Sashimi wrapped in seaweed, dipped into batter and pan-fried to crisp lying on wasabi mayo and served with Alfonso Mango Salad. Freshness and very Japanese styled appetizer which I truly enjoyed, I love the innovative creation!

Pan Fried Crab Cakes ($11) - Hand-picked by the chef and finely shredded, the sweetness of crab meat matches perfectly with the bits of water chestnut. Seasoned with only black pepper and fresh red chillies, each golden brown crab patty is paired with the chef's special peanut sauce, it's feeling as thai as it it. Or maybe I could call it our own Krabby Patty? -hardcore spongebob fan-

Braised Lamb Shank ($22) - Resting on a bed of the Oh So Awesome and smooth Truffle mash, soaking up the natural jus and topped with vegetable fritters. The crunch of the vegetable fritters could elevate the texture of this dish. This Huge Lamb Shank can easily feed 2 ladies unless you have a big appetite!

BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs ($22) - Glazed with smokey BBQ sauce, served with truffle fries and garden salad. The baby back ribs are tender and could almost fall off the bone easily, Using my cutlery for this is a waste of flavour, I would rather use my hands if I could!

Duck Confit ($22) - Marinated overnight with Chinese 5 spice, baked to a perfect crisp on the outside and tenderness on the inside. Laid on a bed of the awesome truffle mash and red cabbage, paired with the lychee gastrique, this dish redefines the iconic French's favourite to a whole new level.

Coconut Pannacotta ($10) - Made from fresh coconut juice, the silky smooth Pannacotta is lightly scented and laced with Gula Melaka. Served with a scoop of home-made vanilla ice cream and fresh berries, this dessert is simple, light and sweet all together.

Mocha Pot De Crème ($10) - Espresso infused Chocolate mousse served with fresh berries and home-made vanilla ice cream. Smooth and rich chocolate mousse is so sinful yet highly pleasurable. A Must Order for chocolate fans, just like myself!

---

Typing this out makes me salivate and want to go back to clover garden for more! I especially love the Baby back Rib, duck confit, Crab Cakes, Cream of cauliflower and the Coconut pannacotta and the mocha chocolate mousse. OMG, I am almost listing out everything I've tried! It is that good and the price is pretty affordable, so I suggest you make your bookings early to visit this new gem.

STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is Bay Hotel Singapore's good global flavours restaurant that brings you the best from around the world, offering diverse flavours from Italian, French and American and this time round, they are bringing you Asian flavours like Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai and Singaporean but with interesting twists. some interesting options include the Lamb rendang, Fish in Tomato Sauce and also the Beef & Mango salad.

Guest will be spoilt for choices with an array of delectable buffet items from spicy & sour appetizers to the feisty Chicken Teriyaki, Mutton & Chicken Satay and more. Apart from the the buffet spread, diners can expect to see a variety of Asian dishes available at the Action Station which will be rotated each week, Which are Mee Bakso (Indonesian), Roti John (Malaysian), Thai Beef Noodle Soup (Thai) Or even Mee Siam (Singapore).

The Spread consisted of fresh Mussels, Prawns & Scallops on a bed of ice accompanied with special Cocktail sauce or the usual Tobasco, Its your pick! I love to drizzle a little lemon juice on mine. Freshness of the prawns makes me want to eat at least 5, Sweet & cold & Crispy! :P

Malayan Flavours like Satay is available in Chicken or Mutton, I prefer the former as it is more tender. At the Live Station, you can expect the MOST DELICIOUS MEE SIAM I'VE EVER HAD here too. The chef will prepare each bowl of Mee Siam upon order so as to retain the freshness of each bowl of mee siam. I went for Seconds, oops. But their live station dish are on a rotational schedule so you might not get to try the mee siam when you're there.

A little of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai flavours can be spotted at this buffet special too. Creamy sauce Clams taste so familiar to something I could not describe, you have to try it for yourself! It's a little sweet, Clams are clean and the Cherry Tomatoes added a punch.

Appetizers are the start of the meal but I could not resist the crispy Fried Fish with Black sauce and I kept going back for more, It was more like a side dish for me that I could easily refill. Oops. The Tangy Mango & pork Salad is very refreshing as well, the mango is soft yet crunchy. Spicy goers can go for the spicy prawn and sambal mussels for that kick of spiciness. Kids can enjoy the Sugarcane Prawn which has a Real Sugar Cane wrapped with prawn paste, a tad dry but quite an interesting idea.

I love their Herbal Chicken, Fungus & Red Date Soup, It's such a Homely feeling sipping the hot soup and relaxing on a weekend afternoon. Can you imagine that?

For all the sweet tooth, STREET 50 offers a range of delectable nonya kuehs and also Durian Pengat and black glutinous rice. What caught my attention was the Banana & Sago Cotta, Not like the usual Panna Cotta, This creamy dessert tasted like marshmallows infused with bananas, its not cloying and I wish I could have to stomach for a second.

Childhood memory, sticky & sweet, drizzled with fragrant coconut milk, is the Black glutinous rice porridge. Many places does it bad that I refrain from eating it Totally. STREET 50 Gave me that confidence to try them out again, Not the best, but yes, Nostalgic.

And please do not miss out on their live station serving desserts like Thai Red Ruby or Mango Sticky Rice on rotational schedule, so you will not know what to expect! Well, you can always call to ask first! :P
