The Amazing Spideman 2 - Rise of Electro Movie Review

I caught the Movie Premier of The Amazing Spiderman 2 - The Rise of Electro with thanks to Sony Pictures!
I have already forgotten 70-80% of The Amazing Spiderman 1 but it did not hinder me in enjoying TAS2.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The webby hero (Andrew Garfield) solves the mystery of his parent's death, is stucked in a dilemma trying to decide if dating Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will go against his promise to her dad to keep her out of danger, and takes on the scary & shocking (literally) New Villan Electro(Jamie Foxx).

Peter Parker is also confronted with a foe, his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) who decided that he needed Spiderman's Blood to cure his disease passed down in the Osborn family, but Spidey wasn't too keen in sharing his blood, but also in reference to his best friend's safety, this caused the rise of the Green Goblin. Okay, is this too much of a spoiler for you? I do not wish to spoil you with so much details but I really want to share it with you guys!

While Andrew Garfield is the main lead of this movie, being the cheeky self he is as spiderman, a simple but troubled teen who just graduated from collage, What attracted me more was his Friend/Rival, Harry Osborn acted by Dean Dehaan. I love how he was desperate in saving his life that he inserted the spider venom into himself, thinking that it'll save his life, which in fact, turned him into Green Goblin. The scene of him struggling and ripping his shirt off(Ooooh~), the transformation and finally suiting up in the Green Goblin Amour. I love it!

That's all I shall share with you guys, I do not want to spoil the movie too much! :D
The Amazing Spiderman 2 is a 2hr 22mins Movie, Rated PG13 and Available in IMAX 3D! Be sure to catch it before spidey swings off. Thank you Sony Pictures once again for the invite.

Watch the Trailer Now!

I can't wait for The Amazing Spiderman 3 Already!

[F.T] Red House Seafood (小红楼) - 38th Anniversary Special Menu!

Bringing families together since 1976, Red house is one of the oldest seafood restaurant in Singapore that survived the test of time. They use to be located in a 'Red House' literally, decorated with red lanterns on the exterior at Upper East Coast Road, due to the move, they preserved the red lantern as their logo till today. And they have 3 outlets island wide, serving up the freshest seafood to customers at East Coast, Robertson Quay and Prinsep Street)

To celebrate their 38th Anniversary, Red house has come up with new dishes, set lunches and 2 celebratory set dinner which is available from now till 30 June 2014. The 7 Course Set Dinner consist of  freshly flown in Live seafood from Scotland, How fresh ? They are flown in at least 3 times a week, That is really Fresh! And each Dinner set priced at $388++ for 6 Persons, AND is inclusive of  a bottle of champagne OR Premium White wine OR 2 Jugs of beer!

I was invited to try out their 'Modern' Anniversary Set Dinner spread, so lets take a look at what we can get at $388++ for 6 pax with free Champagne OR White Wine OR 2 Jugs of Beer!

I had to google what was whelks, I bet some of us have to too. Well, they are basically sea snails but they are not EWWW but more of Mmmmmm when tossed with the sweet & spicy dressing accompanied with silvers of mango and onions.
Chilled Spicy Whelks - $35

I grew up eating Sri Lankan Crabs and Japanese Soft Shell Crabs, lol. And now I have another crab to add into my collection, the Scottish Brown Crab! The Scottish Crab's flesh is firm but flaky, when tossed with the white pepper, it makes it finger licking good!
Scottish Brown Crabs in White Pepper - $58/Kg

I love Fish, Steam, Fried, Sashimi, I love them! This Megrim Fish shocked me at the price tag and I must say it's worth every penny. Smooth and tender texture steamed with simple condiments such as garlic and Superior soya sauce, brought out the freshest of the freshness it offers.
Garlic Steamed Megrim Fish - $100/Kg

If you want something more exciting, you can opt for the Spicy Seafood Combination instead of the Migrim Fish. A thai inspired creation that includes Fresh Cuttlefish, Scallops, Shrimps and Garoupa Fish Slices in a enticing Kaffir laced curry sauce. Dip it with the mantou(steam or fried) for a resemblance to chilli crab.
Spicy Seafood Combination -

My Favourite of the night, the Scottish Blue Lobster coated with sweet mayonnaise, What could go wrong with Mayonnaise? Hahaha! The flesh of the Beautiful Scottish Blue Lobster is firm and slightly springy and when paired with the special sweet mayonnaise, I couldn't help licking the sauce off the shell!
Scottish Blue Lobster Coated with sweet Mayonnaise - $148/Kg

Huge Scottish Oysters rest on a bed of fluffy eggs covering the Yuan Yang Hor Fun, which basically means the mixture of the crispy deep fried hor fun & sliky smooth hor fun sitting in a pool of delicious thick gravy. Every bite of this dish makes me crave for it more & more. I think I can finish it on my own. hehe.
Oyster Yuan Yang Hor Fun - $20

Of course there will be daily Greens served in the set dinner, As well as daily desserts! YAY! But here I want to share with you the dessert that I had that day. The Lime Sherbet with Lemongrass Jelly makes a refreshing end to the whole meal adventure and it cleanse my palette and marks a sweet ending to the day. The latter, Mango Pomelo with Sago was a tad disappointing due to the bitter pomelo and runny mango puree.

Lime Sherbert with Lemongrass Jelly - $6.80, Mango Pomelo with Sago - $4.80

BONUS INTRODUCTION!
Red House Seafood's Chilli Crab Pao uses the REAL Chilli Crab Sauce that they extract from their Chilli Crab and they wrap it up in fluffy pao and steam it or Fry it! The Burst of the chilli crab sauce its like a Liu Sha Bao(salted egg yolk pao) but with chilli crab goodness! SUPER RECOMMENDED!
Chilli Crab Pao (steamed or fried) - 3 for $8 (Only Available for Lunch!!)

Red House Seafood has also come up with a New Set Lunch Menu. It's a five-course set lunch at only $38++ For 2 person! The set lunch comes with a Dim Sum Basket of siew mai, mixed mushroom dumpling, scallop & chives dumpling, and oven-baked char siew pau made by the dim sum chef(dim sum choices may vary) Followed by their signature Creamy Custard Prawn, Oyster Yuan Yang Hor Fun and fried daily greens with a sweet ending of durian mochi as desserts! But please remember to order a set of Chilli Crab Pao too! Only Available during Lunch!

How To Buy Things From TaoBao using 65Daigou Service ?

Many of us know that buying things online is cheaper MOST of the time, and the most famous online shopping sites will be Qoo10(formerly known as Gmarket) , ASOS, Nasty Girl, and Taobao. But the thing is that Tao Bao does not ship to anywhere except China and there is no way we can buy things from there unless we have a friend/relative in China right? haha. BUT NO FEAR! Technology is great and it has come to help us!

Introducing 65daigou.com ! It's your 1 stop solution buying things from TaoBao and also the Taiwan Version of TaoBao! :D YAY! So How does it exactly work? Lets do a Step By Step Tutorial so that everyone can understand and buy from TaoBao too!

1. Register an account with 65daigou and also download the iPhone App if you like the ease of checking any notifications from them or to track your orders.

2. Go to Taobao.com and start Searching for the item you want to buy according to categories and you can find really CHEAP stuffs there. BUT Be Warned that Quality of clothes may not be ideal and there are alot of Imitations so don't expect the Real Thing at TaoBao.

You can sort your search by Best Sellers or Popularity or Price :)

(Tip: Always read Reviews of the item and if the Rating is 4.7 and above, it is usually safe to buy)

Or You can Buy things from the Taiwan Website Too!

3. Copy and paste your Tao Bao Item Link onto 65Daigou's Website and input your selection and sizes ETC. They even ask you whether to drop the order or to get another colour if the one you want is OOS.

Take Note of Price, and State your Preference in the "Your Remarks" Box, Like Size or Colour.
Then choose the Method of Shipping, Economy air is by far the best method in my opinion. The Cheapest method is "Sea Shipment"(Which in my opinion takes SUPER LONG), but it's up to you. ever since the "Economy Air" option came out, I have been choosing that as my shipping option, its WAY Faster than SEA Shipment! :) You can Choose the Even Faster Option, "Express Air" if you are in a rush to get your items. BUT! BUT BUT BUT, If the TaoBao Seller takes very long to dispatch the goods to TaoBao's Warehouse, then your items naturally will take longer to reach okay? :)

After you have successfully submitted an item, you can click Add more and repeat the same steps again to add more items into your cart! :)

4. Collate all your orders first then Place your order together. This is the 1st Payment for your item price and the shipping price from the taobao sellers to 65Daigou's Warehouse. Its usually quite cheap one. I love how 65Daigou auto converts the price from RMB to SGD, It really saves the hassle for me even if I'm buying things for friends, I can easily calculate the price!

5. WAIT PATIENTLY FOR YOUR ITEMS TO ARRIVE! (Exciting Part of buying things online! LOL)

6. When your order arrives in Singapore, 65 Daigou will calculate the Shipping Fee and Agent Fee for your order and you will have to make a 2nd Payment, this is also the last payment you have to make for your purchase with them.

7. Then it's time to arrange for Delivery or Self Collection or Group Collection according to your own preference. If you cannot wait liao, then choose Self Collection at their warehouse near you! If not, wait for the group collection timings at MRT Stations all around Singapore. If you order too many things, you can ask them to Deliver to your house! :D (I think this is how some blogshop owners do it one. LOL.)

You can monitor your goods from "My Account" > "My Order" (After you have placed your order > "My Shipment" (When it is shipped out from 65Daigou's Warehouse to SG) > "My Parcel" (When your order arrives in Singapore) > "Arrange Delivery" (when you have paid for the shipping fee) and you are free to collect your items at the different MRT stations or go to their warehouse to collect.

65daigou charges
Shipment Type Charge

Sea shipment: S$4.7 for first 500g, S$1.7 for every subsequent 500g.
Economy Air shipment: S$5 for first 500g, S$3 for every subsequent 500g
Express Air shipment: S$7 for first 500g, S$4 for every subsequent 500g
Special shipment: S$10 for first 500g, S$5 for every subsequent 500g

Taobao charges
Taobao also has credit card charge of 3% so their shipping is already more expensive than 65daigou plus you have to pay extra.

So Buying from 65Daigou is definitely the choice for me! Hahahaha.

If you are still unsure or If I missed out anything, You can tweet/email me to ask or you can go to 65Daigou's Help page. Link HERE! I hope this guide Helps those of you who are not sure on how to order from Taobao because they do not ship to Singapore unless you know how the new TaobaoSEA works LOL.

psst! I am buying from Taobao soon! So If you wanna buy anything, please email me the link of your item and also the specifications (e.g size, colour, design, quantity, etc) . My Email is michelle-lsy@hotmail.com & Subject of the email will be "(Your Name) Taobao Order" so that it is easier for me to track! :)
Happy Shopping!

[F.T] Miam Miam Westgate Mall - French Japanese Cafe with Perfectly Engineered Meals.

French inspired Japanese Cafe, Miam Miam brings the best out of French Artisanal Cuisine & Techniques and traditional Japanese preparation & cooking arts. We know how to delight you, every step of the way.

I heard that Miam Miam offers 'Perfectly Engineered meals', which basically means that they procedure to prepare all their dishes are the same. For example, each portion of raw pasta weighs at 110g and are then thrown into boiling water and cooked for exactly 7.5 minutes to achieve that exclusive Al Dente texture. Talk about precision, the chefs sure have all their minutes & seconds counted for.

Miam Miam's Hot Coffee is brewed the traditional way; Hand-Dripped from perfectly selected 100% Arabica Beans. The Aroma was fantastic, I had it on its on first, then went on to add some sugar in it. It taste best when hot, be it sweeten or not. The London Fog uses Earl Grey Tea with Steamed milk and homemade vanilla syrup. The subtle sweetness lingers after each sip, Its definitely a ladies favorite.
Hot Coffee - $5.20
Miam Miam Haze a.k.a London Fog - $6.8

The marriage of Japanese & French makes up a beautiful menu at miam miam. With a few pasta selection, Curry Rice and even Squid Ink Rice, it would take you some time to decide. The Riz Au Curry had a pleasant mixture with the Japanese Pearl rice and when Stirred, every single rice is coated with the curry, though only served with 2 Pieces of sausages, this dish is sure to suit any kid's tastebuds.
Miam Miam Capellini - $15.80
Riz Au Curry - $14.80

Homard Bisque, A savoury & rich soup base, slow cooked to perfection, topped with parmesan cheese and a Giant tiger prawn. The sauce felt really soupy, just like how it was described in the menu, the giant tiger prawn wasn't the freshest and overall the dish did not stand out to me at all. On the other hand, The Riz Noir Black Rice, which is Squid Ink Rice with a Fluffly Omelette, Oh the omelette. The black rice had obvious pieces salt granules which I am not sure if it was intentional or what, but when paired with the fluffy omelette, It balances the saltiness.
Homard Bisque - $20.80
Riz Noir Black Rice (Squid Ink Rice) - $17.80

I expected crispy outer layers for the french toast with fluffy and sweet interior but what I felt I got was soggy French Toast with Ice Cream that melts too fast, I'm sorry but... no. The red bean cream was good together with the matcha jelly, Yums! The pancake felt a little too thick for my liking.
Famous French Toast - $9.80
Matcha with red bean cream - $13.80
The chocolate souffle was lacked thickness and was overly sweet. Nothing close to being rich though I was really anticipating so much due to the 'Valrhona chocolate'. Miam Miam's pancakes are thick like what you might get at Mr Bean's but they are much drier and floury? But I prefer this than the Match with Red Bean Cream Pancake, maybe it's because the caramelized banana is so addictive.
Valrhona Chocolate Souffle - $13.80
Caramelised Banana - $13.80

I cannot stop comparing how similar the menu at Miam Miam is that of Hoshino Coffee, Or vice versa. I personally have not tried the latter but what I had at Miam Miam is definitely not all yum yum and maybe they need to spend more time to engineer their recipes. There is of course hits like the Squid Risotto and Miam Miam Haze a.k.a London Fog.

[F.T] Capella - The Knolls Easter Brunch Special

Hello.

Is this the most beautiful view you have ever seen for awhile now? I can stare at it the whole day, I have it on my laptop and my iPhone as default Wallpaper. That's how much I love it. You cannot imagine how excited I was when this beautiful view was present before my very eyeballs. O-O Okay sorry I side tracked..

Enjoy the Alfresco dining area, shaded and well ventilated with the natural breeze and enjoy the view of the South China Sea with special appearance by peacocks and their family walking along side. Or opt for the indoor dining option where you get pretty well lit table while surrounded by the buffet spread. There is even a Private dining room that can hold up to 10 pax, perfect for a simple family gathering? :)

The spread at The Knolls, Capella is Stunning. 5 Different types of Oysters such as Gillardeau, Pousse en Clair and Belon opened freshly on the spot, scallops, Sashimi, Sushi, Foie Gras Popsicle and a live station serving freshly made Blini. Yes, you did not read it wrong, Foie Gras Popsicle is Foie Gras coated with Dark chocolate and sprinkled with some nuts. Definitely a MUST TRY as it's such a unique combination, yet so wonderful.

They have a Cheese Trolley, Nacho Cheese Dip with cheese, Lobster Salad, Tuna Salad and Breads and Fruits and LOADS of Desserts that you would want to have a little of everything, Which you should!

Yes, keep scrolling, we are not done yet.. :) Capella is famous for their mediterranean spread of barbeque meat and Fresh seafood but my visit this time round was for their Easter Specials proudly presented to you by Excutive Chef David Nicolas Senia!

Price Tag:
Sunday Brunch with Free Flow of champagne & Wine will be priced at $228++ (No kids will be able to enjoy this, sorry) If you do not need free flow champagne & wine, then it will be $188++ per Adult and $118++ per Child between 7-12 Years Old and $78++ per Child between 4-6 Years Old, you will get to enjoy coffee, tea, soft drinks and mineral water.

Let's take a look at the Easter Brunch Specials!

At $80/kg, This fish does not disappoint! Firm texture but soft on the palette, one of my favourites.

Salt baked Chicken comes in flavours such as Olive and Tomato flavour. Each piece of chicken is tender and juicy, it is not like any other chicken I have tasted. It was fun hacking the domes of salt, I felt like Thor.

The Knolls specially selected Milk-Fed Baby Lambs from France for their special Easter Menu. The various parts are prepared in different cooking methods, resting on a bed of couscous. You get to enjoy the ribs that fall off the bones tender or the other parts of the lamb which are all presented before your very eyes.

Easter Special Wine Selection, My personal favourite is the Moscato D'Asti.

What's wine without cheese and what is cheese without wine, you get it? The Knolls serves up quite a extensive range of cheese. I am a total cheese idiot, when presented with all these cheese, I had to ask my fellow diners on where do I begin or how do I pair them with. I enjoyed every piece of cheese that went into my mouth, Creamy or Nutty, I like them all!

Yes, I did mention that The Knolls have a rather extensive dessert menu and I am not joking. Every piece of their dessert is so beautifully crafted you would feel obliged to snap a photo or 2 before diving in. I wished I had more stomach space to try every single one of them, but non of those I tried were disappointing.

These Are Not ALL, be there yourself to enjoy it!

It is definitely a wonderful experience at The Knolls, Capella. Thank you Sarah for the invite.
Although the price tag is pretty high, But it is definitely worth the indulgence once in a while, or once a year?
But to enjoy the special Lamb, Fish and Wine/Champagne selection, remember to book yourself a seat this Easter!
