This year, it's our nation's 50th Birthday! There's so many celebration going around and everywhere is going nostalgic with flashback from the past. Everything is Localized and suddenly everyone is more united. Tee-saurus has come up with so many LOCAL Flavoured Tees like Satay Man Tee, Chilli Crab Tee, Fly Dragon Fly (The popular Dragon Playground) Tee.

And I'm wearing the SG50 Special - Ice Kachang Tee! I lovvvveeeeee the mixture of the colours on this one. I love all the other Tees too, And I had such a hard time deciding on which one to choose.

How's my attempt at a Fashion Post? Can anot? Haha! I need to be more flexible next time!

[F.T] Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionary

With the Hustle and Bustle of the city life, Its hard to find a place where we can enjoy reminiscing the past, or to enjoy our history, to experience the life our parents have gone through when they were young. I miss those Kueh Kueh that I use to get to eat at my Nanny's & Grandma's. Especially the 9 Layer Kueh Which I'm sure at least 50% of us peel of each layer slowly to consume it. Hah, Those Were the day.

So where is 1 place where you can still find good hand-made Traditional Kueh? I would Say Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionary. Located Super Near the famous Bedok 85 Food Centre, It's no harm to walk over to get your favourite Kueh first before having your dinner, Because Lek Lim Closes at 6pm daily.

I was invited down for a Experience on Making my own Ang Ku Kueh! Oh I jump at the Chance Immediately and I went with a friend and another blogger friend who was invited as well.

Here at Lek Lim, They Use Different coloured Dough to differentiate the different fillings in And Ku Kuehs, Which makes it easier for us consumers as well.

When I got to get my hands on doing it myself, I infused both colours together to get the beautiful marble.

And While they look perfectly shaped and yummy, they are not ready to eat yet. Steam them for about 23-24 minutes first, and they will come out, chewy, glossy and yummy to your tummy.

Lek Lim offers a WIDE Variety of Kuehs, From this to 9 layer cakes, to carrot cakes, to popiahs, to soon kuehs and png kuehs. TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!

This is Pulut Inti - Glutinous Rice with Coconut Topping

Tapioca Cake, 9 Layer Cake, Kueh Here Kueh There Kueh Everywhere.

My Favourite Kueh is the Ondeh Ondeh ! Hahaha! Is it even a Kueh ?

Soon Kueh & Png Kueh and Jiu Cai Kueh. All of these kueh have skin that is not too thick and full of fillings.
Every bite is such a delight to me as I am a choosy eater for kuehs! :P

And also Glutinous Rice ! Their Version is very homely I would describe. Something you might crave some time along your life..

GORDON RAMSEY vs SG HAWKER HEROS

Recently, there's been great concerns regarding the decline of local hawker culture and whether Michelin-starred accreditations would encourage fresh blood to join the trade and preserve our beloved heritage. In response to this, on 5th June, a group of well-known bloggers teamed up with SingTel to challenge Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay to take on Singapore's favourite hawkers in a huge cook-off.

And now, the time has come for Gordon Ramsey to come Visit our Sunny Shores and also to Battle it out against our Singapore Local Hawker Heros. Together with Singtel, Its Going to be a HUGE Event. And I want to be part of it too!

So How do you catch a glimpse of Chef Gordon Ramsey Himself? EASY!
Just Appear at Newton Circus Food Center on 7 JULY 2013 from 6.30PM onwards and you get to see GORDON RAMSEY HIMSELF!

And who is Chef Gordon Ramsey going to Pit himself against? Its going to be Chilli Crab From Jumbo Seafood, 328 Katong Laksa and Mdm Foo's Chicken Rice. OH SUCH LOCAL FLAVOURS! So Lets all head over to find out if Gordon Ramsey Has What It Takes as a 13 Starred Michelin Chef to be Fighting Against our local Flavours.

Although sometimes I would feel that Jumbo Seafood is not THAT GOOD as compared to some other places for Crab, But Maybe their quality is assured therefore making themselves famous with the locals and foreigners. I would not doubt the 328 Katong Laksa as I Love it to bits myself. Hahaha. And For Chicken Rice, I heard that Tian Tian Chicken rice has its own crowd of customers, but I have yet to try it out, so I could not verdict on that. But Nevertheless, It would still be a great showdown on 7 July 2013!

Good Luck to Chef Gordon Ramsey & All our SG HAWKER HEROS! #SGHAWKERSROCK
