Outram Cafe Hopping - The LoKal Cafe

Hey all, once again its another Cafe Hopping Adventure Series. This time I'm checking out the Outram Park Area. There are SO many cafes within walking distance from the Outram Park MRT Purple Line Exit H, if I'm not wrong.

The LoKal
136 Neil Road, Singapore 088865
OPS: 9AM - 4PM

First stop of the day, we had to start with a great cup of coffee. I was there for the Mocha after reading it on Daniel Food Diary. I love the richness of the mixture of the Coffee and the Chocolate, with almost no acidity, I enjoyed it very much. If you are not a coffee person, go for their Hot chocolate!
Latte - $5.50 & Mocha $6.00
Hot Chocolate
A beautiful blend of Salty and Sweet - The French Toast came with Crispy Bacon, Sauteed Apples, Maple Cream and Drizzled with Maple Syrup. This hits the spot on so many levels, So fluffy and satisfying. I mean come on, its BACON on French Toast with Maple Syrup. Ok I'm done.
French Toast - $15.00

I love everything that comes with Artisan Breads! On a first look, I though the Beef Slices where not sufficient, but after diving in, Nothing else matters. Crispy & fragrant Rye Bread paired with Delicious Roasted Beef Slices, Caramelized Onions, Watercress and Grain Mustard crème fraiche. It's a delight in every mouthful when the beef slices are tender in every bite.
Roasted Beef on Rye - $17.00

For non-beef eaters, Rejoice with this Pork Sausage Burger! Yes, Where is the sausage, that's the question when I got served with this "Pork Chop" looking Burger. But that is not main point, This Burger is the real deal! Juicy Pork Paired with Grilled Pineapple, Swiss Cheese and Onion Jam. This is officially my favourite Burger in Singapore HANDS DOWN!
Pork Sausage Burger - $20.00

My Overall experience at The LoKal was a really pleasant one with nothing to disappoint me on my visit.
I would love to visit again real soon!

JUMBO SEAFOOD at THE RIVERSIDE POINT

JUMBO SEAFOOD RIVERSIDE POINT

Way overdue post, this visit was before the Chinese New Year but nonetheless my family had a very good time eating at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. We dined at the Riverside point outlet. The outlet was full of people during dinner time, must do reservation one hor!!
Deep fried baby sotong
Cereal Prawn
Fried Mee Goreng
Scallop with Broccoli
Steam Cod Fish
Black Pepper Crab

Everything was so delicious and the bill came up to almost $300! OMG la, Tze Char prices wont be so ex for the same amount of dishes but the amount of seafood and ingredients used in each dish here at Jumbo could be said to me more generous. I do not know if they raised their prices during CNY period anot, but it's definitely a very delicious meal and a happy family time.

Pince & Pints with #barcodespricetag

Finally made it to Pince & Pints with #barcodespricetag. Lobster Rolls have been such a hype for the past year that we had to try out one of the most expensive one!! At $48++ for every type of item in the menu, Pince & Pints doesn't disappoint and you will definitely feel that your money is worth it! Though I would seriously consider going early or real late or in small groups so that you will get a seat soon as they DO NOT take reservations.

Blurry group photo to start the night, we were all so hungry!!! Can you recognize who is who? :x

Lobster Roll - Mesclun Salad, Sour cherry & Balsamic Dressing accompanied with Shoe String Fries. Juicy and Chunky Pieces of Lobster Meat tossed in Mayonnaise, served on the Fluffy yet crispy butter fried bun. It was so good I had to share it with everyone on the table!! There was only "OMG IT'S SO NICE!"

Steamed Whole Live Lobster for those who wants the Au Natural Sweetness of the Lobster. Juicy meat paired with a side of salad and show string fries and buttery sauce! Grilled Whole Live Lobster has the slight charred aroma which makes it really addictive!! Meat is less juicy but still as chewy and delicious!!

1 Word to describe this Chilli Lobster would be - Tomatoish (is there such a word?) Slight Tinge of spiciness could be tasted but it did not dampen our mood to dip the fluffy deep fried mantou into the eggy sauce!

Pince & Pints Restaurant & Bar
32,33 Duxton Road
Singapore 089497

It was an awesome night with #barcodespricetag (inside joke) and we will look forward to more foodie meet-ups in 2015!! We will always be the most noisy group of girls in the restaurant. Hahahaha!

[F.T] Rochor Thai - A taste of Home Recipe Thai Cuisine

Very thankful for the invite by Openrice & Rochor Thai for this food tasting session. I always have a love/hate relationship with Thai Food, I love how they are so flavourful and appetizing, But some dishes can really sweat the hell outta me, because they are too spicy.

Rochor Thai relocated in to the Street of Joo Chiat, alongside with many other yummy food joints, and it's not hard to spot as the whole shop front is painted Orange.

Pandan Lemongrass Drink - Taste like Agar Agar Water, Pandan Infused Lemongrass Drink that will make you want seconds! Unlike the normal lemongrass drinks around, this one is sweeter and more fragrant, lesser on the lemongrass taste which is super suitable for me.

Amouche Bouche - A wonderful mixture of Sweet, Sour, Spicy & Bitter.

Som Tum – Green Papaya Salad Central Thailand Style ($6.80)
A dish that resembles the one in Thailand very much.

Gaeng Kaew Wan Gai - Chef's Special Green Curry with Chicken Thigh and Thai Eggplant
 (S - $11.80, L - $18.80)

Po Taek – Clear Spicy Sour Soup with Holy Basil and Kaffir Lime Leaves (S - $8.80, L - $15.80)
Tom Yum Soups need to be sour and spicy enough to be Good, Rochor Thai's Version will not be sour enough but it is definitely Spicy Enough! Maybe you could highlight to the chef to make it more sour.

Tom Yum Talay – Hot & Spicy Seafood Soup with Thai Herbs (S - $8.80, L - $15.80)

Dry Red Curry Red Snapper ♥ (S - $16.80, L - $24.80)
 MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE DISH!
Fresh and Tender pieces of Red Snapper Fillets, Fried to a crisp and coated with the special Dry Red Curry Paste that is Sweet and Spicy at the same time. This dish will go super well with Rice.

Pla Nin Pao – Salt Baked Whole Tilapia served with Spicy Coriander Sauce ($22.80)
Another Fish Dish, Although salt baked, the fish is still tender and moist and not too salty at all. Accompanied with the spicy coriander sauce, it brings the fish to another level.

Kor Moo Yang – Seared Pork Collar served with Aromatic Dried Chilli Sauce ($12.80)
This dish is sooooo good! Everyone was praising it. Eat it with or without the Dried chilli sauce.

Pad Kee Mao Goong - Stir Fried Thai "Drunken" Style Prawns (S - $16.80, L - $24.80)
Contrary to normal hear-say, Rochor Thai's "Drunken" style prawns are suppose to kick you awake from your drunken state, instead of bringing you in to it. Fresh Succulent Prawn that are tossed with special spicy sauce, I'm sure I will definitely enjoy this with Beer. Oops!

Hoay Lai Pad Prik Pao - Clams Flambe in Chilli Jam and Chef's Stock (S - $14.80, L - $22.80)
I'm usually not a clam kinda person, but the clams Rochor Thai selected was very delectable. Fresh Flower Clams that are not too big and not too small, I couldn't resist having afew more.

Phad Thai Talay  (S - $7.80, L - $14.80)

Khao Niew Ma Muang - Mango Sticky Rice ($7.80)
Sweet Sweet Mango with Warm Sticky Rice, Oh How I miss Thailand.

Tab Tim Grob - Thai Red Ruby ($4.80)
This is one of the better Red Ruby around, enough chewiness of the chestnut accompanied by the coconut milk, topped with Ice, it makes a pretty and cooling dessert.

[F.T] Big Bear Bistro & Bar in Bugis

Was Invited to Big Bear Bistro located in the lane opposite Bugis Junction's Toast Box, Tan Quee Lan Street.
Right Beside a shop selling party Stuffs, Big Bear is a beautiful restaurant with clear glass and upon stepping in, it gives one a cozy feeling, something like going to your Best Friend's House kind of feeling.

Mushroom Soup ($8.90)
Mushroom soup created with food sciences in mind where you get to enjoy the rich and creamy mushroom soup and it gets thin and palatable down the bowl. Tiny Bits of mushroom in every mouthful, its not hard to not love this as I love my mushroom soups this way.

Big Bear’s Salad ($10.90)
Tossed salad served with poached egg coupled with savoury cold cut meats with a touch of fruity balsamic sauce. I would say its Good even on its own ! The pieces of Ham, Croutons and Bacon Bits and the balsamic sauce match together pretty well.

Calamari Fries ($10.90)
Dry batter squid fries served with homemade tartar sauce. I could not STOP! I have not come across Calamari in Strips, this was so good, the calamari was cooked to perfection!

Fish Fingers ($9.90)
Soft juicy dory fish fingers wrapped in a secret recipe hand whisked beer batter, served with orange mustard sauce. Fish lovers, I would recommend this to all of you! Dip the fish in the orange mustard sauce for a different level of flavour.

Black Maiden ($15.90)
Pacific John Dory fish served with a unique black pepper sauce designed to complement the fish and not overwhelming it, served with cheesy baked potato and a side of salad. I normally love my fish but this dish did not win me over, although the sauce really complements the fish really well.
Black Maiden is a Chef’s creation dedicated to a girl in his life that didn’t like black pepper sauce. The Black Maiden is best served with Maiden’s Tears, a concoction of Espresso and Coke, specially crafted to complement this dish.

Hawaii Pork ($16.90)
Pork Collar marinated with a Caribbean fusion marinate served with pineapple sauce.
Pork and Pineapple sauce can never go wrong! The pork collar was tender and infused with flavours, One of my favourite dish of the night! Im craving for it even now! Served on the side the baked potato with cheese is awesomely good as well!

Bears love Chips ($13.90)
Soft juicy dory fish wrapped in a secret recipe hand whisked beer batter, served with fried potato strips, a side of salad and orange mustard sauce.
Looks Familiar? This is the upsized portion of the fish fingers before. If you are going with a group of friends, I would recommend the fish fingers! They taste as awesome nonetheless.

Meltique Strip Loin Steak ($16.90)
New Zealand Beef (We chose: Medium rare) on a bed of mash potatoes, served with red wine wholegrain mustard sauce. Mmmmm, a delight in every bite, Remember to inform the waiter of the done-ness for your steak to enjoy it to the fullest.

Norwegian Salmon ($17.90)
Norwegian Salmon fillet served with a herb-butter gherkin sauce.
I love the herb butter gherkin sauce with the salmon that is just nicely cooked, not over done.

Bacon Aglio Olio ($11.90)
Spaghetti tossed in olive oil, garlic and pepper topped with bacon slices.
A little on the Dry side, but the they were generous on the Bacon. The strong Garlic flavour was good too!

Creamy Cheese Pasta ($14.90)
3 Cheeses (Mozzarella, Parmesan, and Cheddar) pasta tossed in a rich creamy sauce topped with bacon slices. TRIPLE CHEESE, You've Heard me! Although infused with 3 different types of cheese, this creamy cheese pasta is no where near gelat. I think I could finish it up although creamy pastas will never be my first choice when it comes to pasta. :)

Banana Sabayon ($13.80)
A new twist in banana dessert covered in a unique egg sauce served with vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. THIS HAS TO BE MAGICAL! How did a Egg Sauce complement the Fresh Banana So much? Eat it with or without the Vanilla Ice Cream, This dish made us order a second! *slurps*

Red wine poached pear ($15.80)
Poached pear served with vanilla ice cream
I have never heard of Poached Pear But upon hearing the process of making it, makes me want to try it even more. Poached for 24hours and prepared 3 days in advance before it could be served, This is 1 dessert that I believe is hard to make. It was worth every minute of the preparing process. Soft tender Pears, infused with rich red wine flavour, Eat it on itself or with a dab of vanilla ice cream. You can feel the work that went into making it.. Simply wonderful..

In conclusion, I would believe that Big Bear Bistro will be a nice cafe suitable for teenagers or working adults to hang out after school or after work for a cozy meal time with your friends and family, Or to have a little drink or two while chilling around. Prices are not too high that might burn your pocket, but they serve up pretty good dishes. Do try them out!
