6 MUST EATS IN PENANG WITH NO REGRETS!

After my recent trip to Penang, I am here to share with you what I think is the Top 6 die die must try in Penang after trying out so many delicious food there! They are in no particular order but all must try la! I will be blogging about my itinerary on a separate blog post!

1. Tiger Char Koay Teow
Address: 179 Carnavon Street, 10300, Gerogetown, Penang
Operating Hours: Monday - Sunday 8am to 2pm
Must Order: Char Koay Teow with Duck Egg - RM6 for standard size

The aroma of the duck egg used enhanced the whole flavour factor of this char Koay Teow. It has wok hei, fresh ingredients and generous amount of tao gey, adding the extra crunch. A very different style as compared to the CKT we have in Singapore!

2. Lim Sisters Curry Noodle
Address: Air Itam Market (Under a big tree)
Operation Hours: Monday - Sunday 8am - 1pm
Must Order: A bowl of Curry Noodles - RM5 for standard size

I almost missed out this bowl of heavenly curry noodles if not for my travel companion's sharp eyes. The soup broth was boiled over charcoal heat and the flavours were strong but the soup was not as thick as our curry gravy in Singapore. In this bowl of curry mee, you will find a gem which you can no longer find in Singapore. It's the Pig's Blood! Although I'm not a big fan of it, but I do enjoy my portion of it when available.

3. Penang Air Itam Laksa
Address: Air Itam Market (its really obvious one)
Operating Hours: Monday - Sunday 11am - 7pm
Must Order: Penang Laksa - RM4.50 for standard size

It was my first time trying our Penang Laksa and I'm glad I did. The aromatic broth and the pile of fish. vegetables, onions and the thick been hoon looking noodles all came together so well. It is nothing like those in Singapore which reeks of fishy sardine smell. The owner of the shop was so busy, his hands were working non stop! People came and go continuously and people even come here just to takeaway!

4. Kimberly Night Market Duck Koay Chiap
Address: Kimberly Night Market on Lebuh Kimberly infront of Restoran Kimberly
Operating Hours: Friday - Wednesday 6.30pm - 11.30pm (Closed on Thursday)
Must Order: Duck Koay Chiap - RM10 for Large

This huge bowl of brown goodness is passed down from 3 decades. The thick rice rolls with the generous ingredients like duck meat, innards and the flavourful broth makes you want to gobble down a large bowl by yourself. I went back twice in my 4 days trip!

5. Wantan Mee @ Tai Wah Cafe
Address: 86 Jalan Argyll, 10050, Georgetown, Penang (Diagonally opposite a Caltex Petrol Station)
Operating Hours: 7am - 11.30am (Closed on Tuesdays)
Must Order: Dry Wantan Mee with Black Sauce - RM4 for Medium size

Do not judge it's unassuming looks. This is the BEST Wantan Mee I've ever had in my entire life. I know taste is subjective but I'm sure of you love dark soya sauce with your wantan noodles, you will feel the same as me. The dark soya sauce that they used here had such a kick to it which lifted the whole dish. the springy noodles and generous amount of ingredients left me wanting more!

6. Toh Soon Cafe
Address: 184 Campbell Street (off Penang Road in an alley)
Operating Hours: 8am - 6pm (Closed on Sunday)
Must Order: Hainanese Coffee - RM 1.70 for Large Cup

I don't know to count myself lucky or what but when my travel companions arrive at Toh Soon, we did not have to wait for a table, neither did we have to wait at least 30minutes for our Coffee, Toast & eggs. We were first confused whether we were at the right place. Haha! But we were assured after seeing the man roasting the roti while squatting on the ground. The toast was nothing to shout about but the Coffee was the BOMB! It was Thick but smooth and very very aromatic. The delicate flavour brought back nostalgic memories just like how we used to have real good coffee last time. I almost wanted to ask the lady boss for the coffee powder to bring back to SG! lol! Coffee Lovers Must Try ya!

That's all for my 6 MUST EATS in Penang! What are yours?
There are so much more stuffs I've yet to try in Penang and there are just too many good food lying around the corners! I'm sure to head back to Penang again soon!

Till Next Time.

With Chinese New Year round the corner, It's time to stock up on the goodies to serve visiting relatives and friends, Or just to indulge yourself. Snacking on healthy nuts is a better option as compared to those New Year Goodies la!

Garden Picks have come up with these few CNY special mixes for you!

Peanut Pretzel Choco Mix
My Favourite out of the 4 that I'm going to introduce to you guys!
This is a delicious combination of pretzel pieces and lightly roasted peanuts, mixed with chunky chocolate chips, enjoy a bowl of goodness with milk or simply snack them on their own! I've finished my pack and I'm craving for more!

Trail Mix
Trail & Error Mix I would say. This nutritious and yummy pack is good for energy and a delicious snack in its own. But you can add just anything in it and create your own exciting mixes since there are endless possibilities to this Trail & Error Mix!

Peanut Butter & Jelly Mix
At first I was like, Where? Where got Peanut Butter, Where got Jelly? Haha! I love my PBJ sandwiches! So this is great news for fans out there who can’t possibly munch on sandwiches all day long! The berries taste real good if you eat a whole bunch of them, it tastes like JAM! OMG! Amazing!

Tropica Mix
This mix has fragrant dried mangoes, cranberries and coconut chips, this is an ideal buddy when you want to prep some overnight oats for that wholesome indulgence. Add this mix into your oats, chill overnight and enjoy the very next day. It can certainly be an interesting dessert. The Coconut chips taste a little weird I still prefer my Coconut water & coconut ice cream!

Be sure to check out Garden Pick's website for all the range they have! Not only they are suitable for hosting guest or just daily snacking in the Office!

Cheers to Wholesome & Healthy Snacking!
